How to Grant Us Access to Your Facebook Business Page
Step-by-step guide to adding SmartWebsite Pro as an admin or partner to your Facebook Business Page.
For AI to respond to Facebook Messenger conversations, we need access to your Facebook Business Page. Here’s how to add us.
What We Need
We need Admin or Editor access to your Facebook Business Page. This allows us to:
- Connect the page to AI response system
- Respond to messages on your behalf
- View page analytics
- Manage messaging settings
Option 1: Add via Facebook Business Suite (Recommended)
Step 1: Open Business Suite
Go to business.facebook.com and log in.
Step 2: Navigate to Page Settings
- Click Settings (gear icon) in the left sidebar
- Under Accounts, select Pages
- Click on your business page
Step 3: Add Partner
- Click Add People or Assign Partners
- Select Add Partner
- Enter our Business ID: [Contact support for ID]
- Or invite via email: access@smartwebsitepro.io
Step 4: Set Permissions
Assign permissions:
- Full Control (recommended for full functionality)
- Or minimum: Create Content + Manage Messages
Step 5: Send Invitation
Click Send Invitation. We’ll accept within 24 hours.
Option 2: Add via Page Settings (Classic)
Step 1: Go to Your Page
Open Facebook and navigate to your Business Page.
Step 2: Access Page Settings
Click Settings at the top of your page (or Manage → Settings).
Step 3: Open Page Roles
In the left sidebar, click Page Roles or Page Access.
Step 4: Add a New Person
- In the “Assign a new Page role” section
- Enter: access@smartwebsitepro.io
- Select role: Admin (recommended) or Editor
- Click Add
Step 5: Confirm with Password
Facebook will ask you to enter your password to confirm. Enter it and click Submit.

Recommendation: Admin provides full functionality. Editor works for messaging but limits some features.
What Happens Next
After we have access:
- We connect the page – Link to your SmartWebsite Pro account
- We configure AI – Set up auto-responses for Messenger
- We test – Send test messages to verify everything works
- You’re live – AI starts responding to page messages
Connecting Instagram Too
If your Instagram is linked to your Facebook Page (required for business features), we can also connect Instagram DMs through the same access.
To link Instagram to Facebook:
- Open Instagram → Settings → Account
- Tap Sharing to Other Apps → Facebook
- Link to the same Facebook Page
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you post on my page?
With Admin/Editor access, we can post, but we won’t unless you specifically request it. Our focus is messaging.
Can I remove access later?
Yes. You can remove our access anytime from Page Settings → Page Roles.
What if I have multiple pages?
Grant access to each page you want AI responses on. Configure separately for each.
Is my personal Facebook affected?
No. We only access your Business Page, not your personal profile or messages.
What if I don’t see Page Roles?
Facebook’s interface changes frequently. Contact support and we’ll help navigate your specific version.
Troubleshooting
”I can’t find Page Roles”
Try: Settings → New Pages Experience → Page Access
Or use Business Suite: business.facebook.com
”It says I need to be an admin”
Only page admins can add other admins. If you’re not an admin, contact whoever set up the page.
”Invitation not received”
- Check the email entered is correct
- We’ll also check our end
- Try using Business ID method instead
